Purpose of the role: The role requires an exceptional content producer and storyteller — someone who can conceptualise, write and edit sharp, scroll-stopping content for Takealot Marketplace. They will be responsible for communicating the voice, tone, and creative consistency of Takealot while producing content that drives measurable engagement, talkability, and conversion across platforms where Takealot’s audience lives. This position reports to the Content Production Manager Your responsibilities will include: <ul> <li>Marketing Content: Plan, write, and edit high-volume content, managing concept through execution while ensuring alignment with Takealot’s Marketing, Marketplace, and Content Strategy.</li> <li>Copywriting Excellence: Write and adapt compelling copies for a range of channels, ensuring clarity, emotional resonance, and on-brand storytelling.</li> <li>Creative Concept Development: Collaborate with Marketing and Takealot Marketplace teams to ideate and execute strong creative concepts that bring on-brand campaigns to life.</li> <li>Research & Insights: Stay on the pulse of South African content marketing trends, audience behaviour, and competitor activity to strengthen creative outputs and keep content relevant and talk worthy.</li> <li>Performance & Optimisation: Measure, analyse, and report on content performance to refine tone, messaging, and creative direction — ensuring future content is data-led and impactful.</li> <li>Collaboration &amp; Brief Management: Understand and respond to creative and marketing briefs to effectively plan and brief collaborators.</li> </ul> Qualification & Experience:  <ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Communications, Copywriting, English Language or related degree.</li> <li>A minimum of 5 years working in eCommerce/E- learning/content production and/or related digital communications.</li> </ul> Attributes Required: <ul> <li>Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and a well-structured thought process.</li> <li> Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.</li> <li>Very strong interpersonal skills and experience in marshalling cross-departmental resources towards daily goals and objectives.</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </td> </tr> <tr class="info-row"> <td class="info-cell"> <div data-react-class="JobInfo.LabelWithTooltip" data-react-props="{"labelTextKey":"edit_job_info.how_to_sell.label","tooltipKey":"edit_job_info.how_to_sell.tooltips"}" data-react-cache-id="JobInfo.LabelWithTooltip-0"></div> <div id="how_to_sell_this_job_control" class="editable-field-control"> <div class="collapsed-field"> <div class="collapsed-field-text"> In addition to the Environment below, please pass whatever else you think would be useful for an interviewer to know in order to sell the job to the candidate.
