Innovative ideas, it’s the magic of our people and culture that sets us apart.Now, is the time to imagine your next move with South Africa’s number one employer in Financial Services for 2025, where you can embrace the power of collective thinking to unlock unique opportunities for our clients and society.The Foreign Banks Network Management Specialist is the senior technical subject matter expert within the Foreign Banks Network Management team, responsible for leading complex specialist activities across correspondent banking, foreign currency clearing, nostro and custody arrangements held by the FirstRand Group.Working closely with the Operations Manager, the role provides specialist depth and judgement on KYC and regulatory governance, provider performance and service oversight, payment escalations, and the delivery of network-related strategic initiatives. The role supports commercial negotiation and provider selection through structured technical input, market intelligence and considered analysis.The role requires a candidate who combines deep correspondent banking expertise with strong analytical and operational discipline, the ability to operate independently at a senior level, and the credibility to engage with senior internal stakeholders and external correspondent banks.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Specialist Subject Matter LeadershipAct as the team's senior technical authority on correspondent banking, foreign currency clearing, nostro and custody operations.Provide specialist guidance on complex matters that fall outside standard operational handling.Maintain awareness of industry, regulatory and market developments relevant to the Group's correspondent banking network.KYC, RMA and Regulatory GovernanceLead the specialist handling of complex KYC, RMA and Request for Information matters with correspondent banks.Support the integrity of the Group's correspondent banking governance framework in line with internal and external standards.Partner with Legal, Compliance and Financial Crime functions on specialist regulatory and governance matters.Provider Performance and Service OversightLead structured service reviews with correspondent banks and oversee the resolution of significant service issues.Monitor provider performance against agreed standards and drive remediation of identified gaps.Maintain credible, professional working relationships with external correspondent bank counterparts.Payment Escalation LeadershipAct as the senior specialist escalation point for unresolved correspondent banking payment matters.Partner with internal operations teams to drive resolution and apply root-cause learnings into the operating model.Commercial and Negotiation SupportProvide structured technical input, analysis and benchmarking to support commercial negotiation and provider selection.Contribute specialist input to the formulation and assessment of RFPs and RFIs.Support the tracking of value delivered through commercial outcomes.Strategic Initiative ContributionContribute specialist expertise to the design and delivery of network-related strategic initiatives.Partner with Product, Operations, Technology and external providers to ensure technically sound and well-governed delivery.Stakeholder EngagementEngage credibly with internal stakeholders across product houses, payments operations, treasury, legal, compliance, group risk and subsidiary teams.Represent Foreign Banks Network Management in technical and specialist engagements with external correspondent banks.Knowledge Sharing and Team CapabilityProvide technical mentorship and guidance to Analyst roles within the team.Contribute to the team's collective technical depth and operating standard.Qualifications and Experience:Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualification in a related field will be advantageous.4 to 7 years of banking experience, with deep exposure to correspondent banking, foreign currency clearing, nostro and custody operations, or international payments.Demonstrated experience operating independently in a specialist role within an investment, corporate or commercial banking environment.Experience engaging with senior internal stakeholders and external correspondent bank counterparts.Knowledge and Skills:Technical KnowledgeCorrespondent banking principles, structures and operating models.International payments, foreign currency clearing and settlement structures.SWIFT messaging standards and payment message flows.Nostro account operations and custody arrangements.KYC, AML, sanctions and correspondent banking regulatory frameworks.Analytical CapabilityAdvanced Microsoft Excel.Comfort working with transactional and operational datasets.Strong data-led decision making and insight generation.Commercial CapabilityVendor performance management and structured service oversight.Pricing analysis, benchmarking and market intelligence.Operational CapabilityProcess design and operational control.Service management and provider performance oversight.Risk and control management.Are you interested to take the step?
